Memorialization Options
If you are looking for a special way to memorialize your loved one the Meditation Garden Memorial Wall might be just the place. The Memorial Wall was created for those who wish to memorialize the name of their loved one who is scattered or buried elsewhere.
The Meditation Garden was built around the theme of “creating a place that is spiritually uplifting … in all seasons.” To this end, the Cemetery Trustees commissioned the art work that adorns the wall. Local artist, George Arensberg, painstakingly hand etched a dogwood tree that reflects all the seasons of the year. From spring, summer, fall and winter the tree shows the progression of time.

Art, it has been said, is a celebration of life. This is certainly true of the art of George Arensberg, master engraver with Modlich Monument Company.
An accomplished portrait artist, Arensberg’s sensitivity is as much a part of his art as the imagery of his engravings. The technical quality of his engraving work is unparalleled, but his ability to capture the essence and personality of his subjects is what separates his work from ordinary engravings.
George’s permanent engravings in granite begin with polished stone. He then removes the polished surface bit by bit with a diamond tipped etching tool. The result is a durable etching in stone as permanent as the stone itself.
Arensberg, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and Case Western Reserve University, specializes in portraits. He is one of very few artists in the United States with the ability to etch high quality granite memorials. His enormous talent allows him to create black and white or full color portraits and other subject material with meticulous detail.
He has been featured in numerous publications, and has many memorials on public display in the Columbus area that include: The Columbus Zoo, Rockwell Park, Bolton Field Golf Course, Ft. Hayes Career Center and Glenwood Park.
